2020 Fitness Trends

The American College of Sports Medicine for the last 14 years has created, collected and supplied the results found to determine fitness trends worldwide. They deem a “Fad” to be something that is taken with great enthusiasm for only a brief time, but a “Trend” develops and changes the way people behave long term. #1 Trend for 2020 — Wearable Technology
Since 2016 fitness trackers, smart watches, heart rate monitors and GPS tracking devices have steadily risen in popularity. This year is no different. It is expected that within the next two years “smart clothing” will surpass sales of devices. The smart clothing have sensors integrated into the fabric. Did you know that there are actual bikinis that tell you when to reapply sunblock?! It is expected that these clothing items will also help trainers by showing them how far a client is straining muscles during a workout!

#4 — Training with Free Weights
#5 — Personal Training (one-on-one)

#6 — Exercise as Medicine
This means having exercise professionals as part of your healthcare team. This is exciting! Doctors and other medical professionals see the importance of exercise in our overall health and wellness. This is can be seen in a persons physical and mental well-being. Exercise will help alleviate aches in pains in the body, lower blood pressure, help control diabetes…. as well as, lower anxiety, stress, depression…. in some cases doing away with the need for medications! Any fitness enthusiast has long known that fitness trainers teach you more than how to exercise. They help you get fit, relieve pain, eat better, encourage you, challenge you and even help your mental well-being! Exercise really is medicine!
